My name is Sofia. I’m the middle in siblings.
I used to think being the middle meant being unnoticed. Not the oldest with all the pressure. Not the youngest with all the attention. Just somewhere in between adjusting, understanding, staying quiet when needed.
Then my father passed away.
Everything changed after that. The house felt different. His voice was gone. The small everyday things his footsteps, his laughter, even the way he called my name became memories instead of moments .I was hurting more than I knew how to explain. Some days I felt strong. Some days I felt completely lost. But when I looked at my siblings, I saw how much they needed someone to be steady. Someone who wouldn’t fall apart. So I tried to be that person. Not because I wasn’t sad. Not because I wasn’t scared. But because I love them. I started putting them first. I made sure they were okay before I asked myself if I was okay. I became the listener, the encourager, the one who said, “We’ll get through this,” even when I was still figuring out how. It wasn’t easy. There were nights I cried quietly. Nights I missed my father so much it felt like a weight on my chest. I wished he was there to guide me, to tell me what to do, to tell me he was proud of me. But in the middle of all that pain, I found something inside myself strength. Not loud strength. Not perfect strength. Just the kind that wakes up every day and keeps going. My goal is simple. I just want to finish my studies and graduate. That’s it. I want to walk across that stage one day, hold my diploma, and know that I didn’t give up. I want to do it not just for me, but for my father or everything he worked for, for everything he dreamed for us. I want my siblings to see that no matter how hard life gets, we can still move forward. We can still build something better. I’m not chasing fame. I’m not chasing big titles. I’m chasing stability. Peace. A future where my family doesn’t have to struggle. I am Sofia, the middle who stepped up when…
